We live SUSTAINABILITY

We are Ecological

Since the entire value creation takes place in-house, we save long transport distances. In this way, we reduce CO2 emissions that would have arisen on journeys.

Only excellent products can increase a machine's service life. Machine knives are consumable parts. The less often they have to be replaced, the smaller the CO2 footprint of these machine knives. Thanks to our high quality, which we have refined over 200 years, our knives remain in use for a long time.

The complete value creation from the raw material onwards takes place in-house. This enables us to avoid unnecessary transport routes along the supply chain. Only in the case of the use of coatings, we work together with external specialists.

We source our steels from steel producers in Western Europe, around 90% of them from Germany. In this way, we ensure that the steels were produced under fair conditions and that important environmental protection regulations are complied with.

We have a heat recovery system with which we feed the excess energy generated in our hardening shop to a heat storage tank and use it for heating or cooling our building as needed.

Our Second Life Knife Service gives a machine knife that has already been in use a retrofit for its next use. In this way, we further reduce the CO2 footprint of this machine knife.

We use our resources sparingly and avoid unnecessary burdens on our environment.

Wir sind Ökonomisch

GIESSER has its origins in 1776 and is still a family-run company - now in its 7th generation. We are not bounded to financial investors, we are bounded to our customers and employees. Therefore, as a family business, we consistently invest in our long-term development. And we still have a soul that we want to preserve. In 2026, we will celebrate 250 years of GIESSER.

The health and safety of our employees at work is our top priority. After all, many of them spend their entire working lives with us, from apprenticeship to retirement. By promoting and challenging our employees, we ensure our performance. Our employees represent the center of our know-how and our success.

Through reliability in terms of on-time deliveries, we contribute to a long-term partnership with our customers.

We leave the spare parts business to our OEM-customers and concentrate on manufacturing best-in-class products. Our longest customer relationship exists now for over 100 years ‒ this is evidence of lived and trusting partnership over generations.

Wir sind Sozial

We take the utmost care to ensure that all our employees work in safe and healthy conditions.

The exchange and cooperation with young people is very important to us. For this reason, we are always open to collaborations, such as the one with the Ruhr University in Bochum. Because we believe that the innovative strength of cooperation has great potential. The best example of this is ours GTS 12 steel, welcher aus der Kooperation mit der Ruhr-Universität Bochum hervor ging.

We often get spontaneously involved in our direct environment, but mostly out of inner conviction. Be it the free provision of our - 80°C ultra-low freezer for the Rems-Murr district vaccination center in January 2021, the Christmas feast as a thank you for every volunteer of the German Red Cross Winnenden/Berglen or the financial support of the Winnender concert days. As a traditional company, a healthy moral compass is very important to us.

Short transport routes ensure a low CO2 footprint

Sustainability is the cornerstone of our soon to be 250 years of success. Therefore, we balance the three pillars of sustainability and strive for continuous progress in every area.

We deliver our products in recyclable cardboard boxes and seal them with 100% degradable paper tape.

"Considering suppliers as partners with whom one works together in a trusting and long-term manner was not always valued in the past. But in the pandemic, it has been openly shown that the supply chains of companies that intensively nurture their supplier relationships are on a much more stable ground. Suppliers have done their best to support their 'good customers' so that they were significantly less affected by supply disruption than some of their competitors."

Resources

In today's globalized world with long and intransparent supply chains it is becoming increasingly difficult to trace the origin and the mining conditions of each individual raw material. To ensure the shortest value chain possible, we source our steels from steel producers in Western Europe. Around 90% of these come directly from Germany. This means we know the origin, the working conditions and the supply routes of the steels we use. At the same time, the short transport routes reduce our CO2 footprint and protect the environment.

Products

The service life of a product is a decisive factor in determining how ecologically sustainable it is. The less often a machine blade needs to be changed, the lower the consumption of resources and thus also the CO2-footprint. For this reason, we pay close attention to the excellent quality of our products for a long service life. In addition, we strive to continuously improve through numerous innovations, such as the specially developed GTS12 Material. In this way, we not only increase customer benefits, but also improve our environment at the same time.

Employees

The health and safety of our employees in the workplace is our top priority. We are aware of our responsibility and therefore offer our employees optimal working conditions and performance-related pay.
We are proud that many of our employees have spent their entire working lives, from their apprenticeship until they retire with us.

Circular economy

The extraction of resources is particularly energy-intensive, which is why the reuse of materials is of particular importance to us. That is why we return our residual grids back to our steel producer so they are reused in the melting process for new steels. By recycling our materials we enable their further utilization. Here we already live
the Cradle-to-Cradle Principle

Energy

In order to make optimum use of energy consumption in our company, we installed a heat recovery system several years ago. The surplus energy generated in our hardening shop is fed into a heat storage tank and is used for heating or cooling our building. In this way achieve greater energy efficiency for our for our company.

Executive Management

GIESSER has its origins in the year 1776. Until today we are a family-run company - currently in the 7th generation. We are not bounded to any financial investors but only to our customers and employees. And we still have a soul which we want to preserve. That's why as a family business,
we invest consistently in our long-term further development.

In 2026 we will be celebarting 250 Years of GIESSER!

Usage Extension

With our SecondLifeKnife-Service we give a machine knife that has already been in use a retrofit for the next use. Through recoating, straightening and resharpening in manufacturer quality, our products can be used longer and save resources and energy.

Production

The complete value creation from the raw material onwards takes place in-house. This enables us to avoid unnecessary transport routes along the supply chain. Only in the case of the use of coatings, we work together with external specialists.
